Why don’t our liberal policymakers trust our teachers with guns?

Why don’t our liberal policymakers trust our teachers with guns?

First things: hope everyone had a great Christmas. The squire and chatelaine of the Stately Manor certainly did. They were guests at Mike-boy and Peg’s even-more-stately manor located deep within Grandma’s Woods in the wilds of Sun Prairie, an agricultural region northeast of the Emerald City. Does anything make Christmas more merry than family, snow-covered forest, and chocolate martinis?

Let’s make Wisconsin schools murder-free zones, not gun-free zones

Let’s make Wisconsin schools murder-free zones, not gun-free zones

What stopped the slaughter at Sandy Hook Elementary last Friday? We know it wasn’t a sign on the wall. We know it wasn’t a law on the books. It wasn’t the outstretched arms of the desperate principal. Or common human decency. Only one thing stopped the slaughter at that Newtown, Conn., school: the imminent arrival of people with guns (aka police).

Something must be done, indeed, to prevent the slaughter of more innocents

Something must be done, indeed, to prevent the slaughter of more innocents

Nothing is more heartbreaking than tiny coffins. The tragedy in Newtown, Conn., was worse than the Columbine or Aurora shootings because of the age of the victims. To do violence to children is one of the few absolutely unspeakable acts. The movies won’t show it. The shootings of 20 children at Sandy Hook Elementary, all 6 or 7 years old, was truly the slaughter of innocents.

Madison's Bishop Morlino beats pawns

Madison's Bishop Morlino beats pawns

Bishop Robert Morlino has (figuratively) slapped Jesus Christ in the face, according to one letter writer in Friday morning’s Wisconsin State Journal. His reaction is typical Madison thinking that values dissent for its own sake over timeless truths. The bishop’s alleged affront was in disciplining two nuns who have foresworn the Catholic Church’s magisterium in favor of the touchy-feely-ness of New Age relativism.

Send Segway Jeremy to Lansing, Michigan

Maybe they’ll put him to work! The Blaska Policy Research Werkes and Tanning Salon announces today a Holiday Fund Drive to send Wisconsin’s most recognized spokesman for organized labor to embattled Michigan. I refer, of course, to Segway Jeremy, miraculously rescued from death’s door by your donations.

Insert Gen. David Petraeus into the war zone known as Detroit

What can I say about Coach Bielema except that we’ll never forget you, Brent! The only bigger surprise is if Barry Alvarez (you must coach the Rose Bowl!) announced that Wisconsin was joining the Southeast Conference. To be replaced in the Big 12 (Plus Two Eastern Schools) by the University of Chicago.

A Christmas message for self-defense: Where ’tis better to give than receive

A Christmas message for self-defense: Where ’tis better to give than receive

A great week for Wisconsin football, pro and college. Huge redemption for Badger coach Bret Bielema Saturday; losing six assistant coaches and going down to your third-string quarterback can take its toll. But can he afford to lose three straight Rose Bowls?
